Boutique Apartment 300 Optimist Park Opens on Blue Line
Charlotte, N.C. – 300 Optimist Park, a boutique apartment community located north of Uptown along the extension of the Blue Line, has opened for leasing. Niche developer Beauxwright teamed with NarmourWright Architecture and custom builder Kelly McArdle to design and construct the intimate community located just steps from the new Parkwood Blue Line Station, Highland Mills, and the numerous restaurants and amenities being added to Optimist Park and the burgeoning area.
The new community is made up of 48 one bedroom and studio apartments available in two buildings separated by a courtyard, a marked departure from the large apartment complexes under construction and recently developed in the market. The buildings have a common design motif and iterations that make them different and more interesting including the garages, Y-shaped cedar columns and porches.
“Our goal from the start was to introduce a well-appointed boutique apartment project just outside of Uptown, that delivered all of the design qualities of top-tier product in Charlotte, but for an affordable price,” said Beauxwright principal Andy Lucas. ‘NarmourWright perfected the design, both inside and out, which has resulted in a unique identity for the project and translated to overwhelming interest from prospective tenants.”
“From an architect’s view this community was a real treat” said Krista Karlson, senior associate with NarmourWright. “It was fun to work with a different kind of team and buildings of this scale that really works well in this context,” added Karlson.
The exterior design of 300 Optimist Park is considerate of its setting and the mix of homes and commercial and industrial buildings in the area. Apartments and common areas are well appointed. Conditioned stairways with hardwood stairs are both welcoming and a sign of quality and distinction. Interiors are open and light with high ceilings, including 11’ ceilings on the first level apartments and 9’ ceilings on upper levels.
The market is responding well to the new offering as well with more than half of the first building fully leased and the second building soon to open. RKW is handling leasing and management for 300 Optimist Park.
